BPMN Converter Tool

With the new BPMN editor in place, we needed to help all customers migrate their existing legacy BPMN views to the new Processes module. Manual migration would take weeks per customer, risk data loss, and introduce BPMN 2.0 compliance issues without a clear validation step.

As part of a team effort, I contributed to developing a migration tool that would convert legacy BPMN views into new BPMN diagrams with a review-first flow, BPMN 2.0 validation feedback, and unique naming rules, ensuring safe migration and reduced time-to-adoption.

Working collaboratively with the team, we developed a comprehensive migration tool that implemented BPMN 2.0 compliance checking, validation logic, and compatibility checking. I contributed to building a pre-conversion review interface that let users pick legacy BPMN views from a Converter tab, inspect owner and edit metadata, track conversion status, and preview converted layouts before saving. The conversion flow surfaced BPMN 2.0 validation results, allowed layout adjustments, and saved the output as a new BPMN diagram with unique naming rules.

This project highlighted that migrations succeed when validation, preview, and auditability are built into the flow. Clear conversion indicators and unique naming rules reduce user error and build confidence during platform transitions.
