Surveys Feature Transformation

Client
Frontend

Overview

A configurable survey system that replaces legacy guest links with structured, multi-recipient surveys. Features bulk survey creation (up to 10 objects and 5 questionnaires), multi-recipient delivery (up to 10 emails), permission levels, deadlines, and traceable submissions. The recipient experience includes one object per page, collapsible questionnaire sections, and mandatory field enforcement for data integrity.

Project Details

Situation

The existing surveys feature relied on a legacy guest link flow that fragmented stakeholder input, created inconsistent questionnaire experiences, and slowed data collection. Adoption was low, and enterprise customers needed a structured way to gather external input while preserving repository governance.

Task

As part of a team effort, I contributed to redesigning the surveys feature to replace guest links with a configurable, multi-recipient survey flow that supports multiple objects and questionnaires, enforces consistent object definitions, and improves traceability and data integrity.

Action

Working collaboratively with the team, we rebuilt the survey creation flow with object configuration, general configuration, and preview steps. I contributed to implementing bulk survey setup (up to 10 objects from the same definition and up to 5 questionnaires), multi-recipient delivery (up to 10 emails), optional link-only sharing, permission levels, deadlines, titles, and survey notes. I built the recipient experience with a survey summary, one object per page, collapsible questionnaire sections, contextual field descriptions, and an acknowledgment step for traceability. The flow enforced mandatory fields, applied a "Last Input, First Display" rule for multiple responses, and locked edits after activation to ensure data integrity.

Takeaway

This project reinforced the value of designing surveys around recipient experience and governance: consistent object definitions, mandatory-field enforcement, and submission traceability are critical to trustworthy data collection.
