Project Details

Situation

Shady Rays, an eCommerce platform processing millions of monthly visits and 600,000+ sales annually, needed to improve conversion rates and customer retention. The platform lacked personalization capabilities and had untapped potential for targeted promotions, especially during high-traffic sales events like Black Friday and Independence Day.

Task

I was given complete end-to-end ownership to implement customer personalization initiatives and optimizations that would increase conversion rates, boost promotion revenue, and improve customer retention.

Action

I implemented several customer personalization initiatives using customer data and Klaviyo integrations. I developed Shopify apps using Remix, React, and TypeScript, and created theme enhancements using jQuery and vanilla JavaScript. I built custom promotional logic including personalized discounts, personalized cross-sell offers, and gender-based product campaigns. I integrated with Klaviyo's API for targeted customer experiences and implemented complex business rules for promotions.

Takeaway

This project demonstrated the power of data-driven personalization in eCommerce. Integrating with third-party APIs like Klaviyo while building custom logic allowed us to create highly targeted experiences that drove measurable business results.

Results & Impact

Achieved more than 20% increase in conversion, 10% increase in promotion revenue during Black Friday and Independence Day sales, and increased customer retention. The personalization features significantly improved the shopping experience and revenue for a platform processing millions of monthly visits.
